College is not just a part of a journey, it’s a destination, and a dream for people like me. In my eyes, college is the grand “factory” of success. It is a place with opportunities, community, and knowledge. As a first-generation student, I know of the sacrifices that my family has had to make to give me a chance to succeed in a way they only could dream about. Within the walls of a university, my dreams and fantasies won’t be merely that, but become a reality in which I can help others live longer and pain free. My goal is to complete a Biomedical Engineering bachelor in science as well as a Minor in Biological sciences so I can apply to my dream medical school. I want to help people and give them a support system in their darkest hours. I want to become an Emergency Medicine Physician and work in a public hospital so that I can help those who don’t know how to help themselves.
University is not just a path, but a journey for me to grow. Other than education, I want to meet other people and make connections with others who have the same desire to help our local community. I want to find ways to help different people with various cultural backgrounds. Given the opportunity, I want to take every possible step so that I can be better in the future. I understand that for many others university is not for them, but it is for me. I want to go to university so I can work hard and develop a habit of resourcefulness and independence. University, higher education, is not just a right, but a privilege. I want to take full advantage of the path that many historical figures cleared. University is not just a want but a need.
