what does education mean to me? by desirae - October 2022 Scholarship Essay
Education means something different to everyone but for me in my opinion, I think that education means you have a future. Without education we wouldn’t be able to read or write or do anything that we do, Education defines us everyday. Education means that you know you have a shot to do something in your future, to know you can be anything you want to be if you put action into it. You’re the only person who can dictate your future from education. Nobody can stop you but you in your own future. Education shouldn’t be based on how much money it will make you but how far in life education can get you. When we get older we will be the ones in charge and we will be the ones who are placed in a business. We will be the ones who represent now. Those who think education is just about studying and receiving good academics, it is much more than that. Education is about being in control of your own future and not letting anything or anyone stop you because you’re in control. In school, teachers educate us academically and aid us in our character development. Stepping into the outside world, our experiences educate us every moment.
Education is about being able to apply learned things from school into everyday situations and that is a goal of having a good education. Everyday situations in life are hard but we cannot see that it’s impossible and with applying education we can see that it is possible. When we actually use education in our lives we don’t ever notice. Education is the foundation of our lives and helps us in defying who we are as people in this society. Experiences or achievements define most people. These shape people into who they are and what they are good for.
Herbert Spencer once said “the great aim of education is not knowledge but action” and what i take from that is that if you work hard to learn education then you have succeeded to try and work from action instead of education.
