Studying abroad can make a memory that will last a lifetime. This is due to being able to step outside of your comfort zone to explore a new culture and allowing you to practice or develop your language skills.
Your college experience would be positively effected if you were to study abroad because it allows you to be in an unfamiliar area. This is important because it allows you to be more open and able to understand another culture and explore. For example, you would be able to learn different aspects of daily life if you were to study abroad in Japan. They have a very different way of transportation when compared to someone who lives in southern California. Most people in Japan use the subways as a mean of transportation instead of regular cars and buses. This allows you to have a more enjoyable college experience by adapting to a new mean of transportation that you have never or rarely experienced before. You can go around and explore places that you are not familiar with and try new foods. Who knows, you might end up discovering your new favorite dish or see an incredible display of scenery. Overall, stepping out of you comfort zone is important because it gives you a chance to take on risks. In college and beyond, you can't always stay inside of your bubble for the rest of your life. You have to take a chance sometimes to seek out educational opportunities that may become available to you at your school or another country.
In addition, you would be able to enhance your college education by being able to pick up another language if you study abroad at a location where you do not understand the native language. This allows you to try and learn the language to get through daily life easier there. Learning another language is important because it allows you to converse with many new people. This will help you in the future when you meet someone that only speaks that particular language. For example, if a person was lost and they only spoke that language you can help them find their way. Even if this doesn't happen, you can always learn the language to strike up a casual conversation with someone to build your people skills.
All in all, studying abroad can be a very great educational opportunity in college because it allows you to learn a whole new culture and maybe pick up another language.
