The Best Advice I Have Ever Received by Danielle - August 2013 Scholarship Essay

            The best advice I have ever received is to know that even if you feel as though everyone in the world is against you, there is always someone for you, and that person will always love you, no matter what you do. God loves every person unconditionally, and up until about a year ago, I never would have thought that. I went to my first Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference a year ago, and I could not have asked for anything more from the experience. I had never gone to church prior to the conference, and I was in a place where I believed that no one in the world could possibly love me after the mistakes I had made. This message was repeated over and over during the conference, and after a while, I started to believe it. The words to the song “Our God” by Chris Tomlin are the best words of advice anyone could give, or receive: “And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us? And if our God is with us, then what could stand against?” Just because I, or anyone else, have made mistakes, does not mean that no one cares about my hopes and dreams. There is someone always there on the sidelines cheering me on, and He will always be there even if I stumble and fall along the way, and He will always help me up and brush the dirt off my shoulders and tell me to keep going. With God, I know I can do anything, and this simple piece of advice turned my entire life around. I am more grateful for everything I have, instead of always asking for more, and I always want to have God in my life, instead of being afraid to let Him in.
