The Great Gap by Danielle - August 2019 Scholarship Essay

The last deafening bell of the school year sounds, but my friends and I don't hustle to leave school. We were in gym class that is only for athletes-we always get a mark of 100 regardless if we show up or not and I haven't used a machine during the period in about 3 months. I've already said goodbye to all my teachers, the next day we go to gradation and that's it. I've officially graduated high school and I decide to take a gap year to have time to myself before diving back into stress where I will then have to pay taxes, go to college, and find a job to keep for years to come. While it may seem lots of fun to be in school for a year, I know that this may be the most boring year of my life as well.

In the first few weeks of my gap year, I will sleep like bears do in hibernation and only wake up to check social media, use the restroom and eat. I believe that you can catch up on sleep that was lost over 10 months and this will be the first on the agenda of my gap year. After catching up on sleep, I will go out with my high school friends and spend as much time with them as possible before they all leave to college. After they all have left to college, I will spend time apply for scholarships to pay for school when my gap year comes to a close. Before September begins, I will spend time searching for jobs so that I’ll have my own money to pay for whatever needs I may have to be accepted into a college I want. Also, I will use this money to save up and go on a vacation with friends or family in the next summer.

After finding a job, I’ll make sure I join a gym to keep in shape during the long winter. In addition to this, I’ll buy paint supplies o keep myself occupied in the house and possibly ell a few paintings. When summer comes around again, thus ending my gap year, I will go shopping to have supplies and necessities for my dorm in school and take time to study so that I won’t be in complete confusion in my first weeks of college. At the end of my gap year, I’ll go on a great vacation with the money I’ve saved up and pack my things and head to college to begin the new chapter of my life.
