Education Matters by Daniel - April 2018 Scholarship Essay

In the society today a common opinion is that receiving an education is important because it will provide you with many opportunities. If one is illiterate, then they are more likely to be unsuccessful and will live a hard life. A person is encouraged to go to school from the age of 4. In this process you have to graduate from 8th grade and then from high school. After passing through elementary school and high school, the individual has to make a choice whether or not to attend college. Some people may say that college is a waste of money and time, while others say that it is an opportunity that should not be taken for granted. If you do not know what you want to study in college then you should not attend one yet because in that situation you would be wasting your money. But still people should realize that school is important. My hashtag is #EducationMatters. After I graduate from high school I want to attend college so that I can be thoroughly educated in whatever I choose to major in and have vast opportunities to partake in once I graduate.
Two things that I would really be interested in majoring in are criminal justice/law enforcement and engineering. I would like to study criminal justice/law enforcement in order to work in the police department or for the federal government to somehow help to make streets, neighborhoods and essentially the world a better place. It would also be interesting to study a specific type of engineering like mechanical engineering or computer science because those fields interest me. Going to college and taking classes on these majors can help me to better understand how to do what I want to do. I would be learning from highly educated professors that will hopefully implement as much of their knowledge on me as they can.
I also want to go to college so that it can open up future opportunities for me. There are many people who work multiple jobs just to get a certain degree. They know that after they have worked hard and earned a degree it can help them to get certain jobs because certain employers will see the type of degree that they have have obtained. If you do not have a degree for a certain occupation then it is likely that you will be turned down. A company or business will see another person with a degree as more suitable. Also, as you make friends you have an opportunity to potentially go into a business with them if you both are interested in the same things.
Going to college is important to me. It will cause me to be better educated in whatever area that I decide to study. Also it will help to provide me with future opportunities after college in terms of finding the right occupation. All in all, attending college will provide me with a good experience and will help me to be mentally challenged because education matters.
