Personal Statement by Courtney - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
As a child, I believe we all wanted to find our niche, we wanted to be someone important while also pursuing a dream or talent we love dearly. If not a talent, we wanted to show the world who we really were or who we were meant to be, right? I've come to a conclusion, as a high school senior, that I completely want to go into the world of politics and government. I'm slowly realizing that I love solving problems, speaking out to people, meeting new people, networking with people that have the same goals as I do, and most of all, putting in work to actually help people that really need it. My biggest goal in life is to fully accomplish or help end world poverty and hunger as well. I currently feed the homeless in my hometown of Philadelphia through my school every Thursday and I wouldn't drop this for any other activity I do no matter what, this is a huge responsibility to me.
I want to major in Communications and minor in Political Science when I go to college in the fall of 2017. This will be my first foot in the door to being the future Communications Director of the White House. Not only do I feel like this a civil duty but overall, my life's purpose. Along with wanting to help the world, like I previously stated, I relatively have a passion for the media. I want to be able to do daily briefings, speak to the public and the media and news outlets. In college I hope to accomplish learning policies, writing speeches, interacting with the media and the public, and overall learning more about the government and world politics. While taking up smaller hobbies that I love such as: volleyball, basketball, journalism, student government, and as well as joining a sorority.
