Author of the Era by Ciara - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

Dreaming is the one thing that keeps us moving, the one thing that gives us hope for the future. Without dreams, how can we ever hope to improve ourselves? I have dreamed, ever since I was first able to write, of becoming a worldwide famous author, like J. K. Rowling or J.R.R. Tolkien. Whenever I can, I write and I dream. In my Sophmore year, I was surprised to be given the Bard Award. Last year, in my Junior year, I received a GPA of 3.9, while on all the rest of my high school years I have received a 4.0 GPA. This year, I am taking an AP English course, as well as the regular English course the rest of my school is taking, and performing well in both of them. My future is looking brighter, my dreams closer than ever before. I plan to go to either Bluffton University in Ohio or Bradley University in Illinois. I will major in Creative Writing, as well as take some professional writing courses. On the side, I plan to minor in Computor Science for a paying career until my books have become well-known and well-sold. For now I can only dream, but in dreaming I hope to bring upon a reality that will touch generations to come.
