King Solomon by Christi - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I could have dinner with a person from history I would choose King Solomon. He was the man in history who was given infinite wisdom from God. With his infinite wisdom he built a kingdom that no other can ever rival. The reason I would enjoy having dinner with him is two- fold, first of all, I’ve never eaten dinner with a king and I think it would be pretty amazing to be served all of this rich, delicious, exotic food that I’ve never had the opportunity to eat and I would not have to cook it or clean up after anything. I bet the wine would be amazing.
The second reason of course, is the conversation. I would ask him about relationships and family. I would ask him about international relations and how he discerned who to give his money and riches to. I would ask him why, with his infinite wisdom, he chose to have so many women in his life when a wise person truly knows that one is enough! I would also ask him with all of the things he has had in his life, what truly made him the happiest and most content. I am curious to know what the day in the life of a beloved king would be like. Who was one of his mentors? Who was a thorn in his side? Did he have any brothers or sisters that he let live with him? What did they do each day? Did he enjoy pets in his castle? Did he keep horses? Which was his favorite place to visit? I think he would be a very interesting, intelligent and charismatic man.
