Learning by Chloe - September 2018 Scholarship Essay

Education, whether involving books or life lessons, is a necessary aspect of life. Although many people consider their schooling to be completed after high school or college, learning never really ends. As for my own personal life, in 25 years I see myself having achieved my goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. Through this occupation, I will have the opportunity of both educating younger children and introducing them to the importance of learning, as well as, educating myself more through them.

In the future, I would like to make a difference in other people's lives, which will in turn affect my own. I will continue learning throughout my life in the fact that I will constantly be working with new children whom I can gain insight from. Every person has their own story, and even children have the ability to use those stories to inform others. Having the ability to better a child’s education will help me to learn more about future generations and will allow me to encourage them to live up to their full potentials.

Aside from the children, I will also continue to learn from the parents and coworkers with whom I will be around. This is another opportunity for learning because I will be working with them to help better the children’s education. Through them I will be able to learn about ways to improve my own teaching skills. In addition, every family has their own story and background, and there is no better way to understand others than being able to learn about them firsthand. This will introduce me to and teach me about different cultures and lifestyles.

The job that I see myself pursuing in 25 years will give me the opportunity to continue my education, and though it may not be through formal education, it will still be life and experiential knowledge that could arguably be more valuable to me as a person.
