Relax And Sit Back by Chelsey - August 2019 Scholarship Essay
High school can be stressful, between AP classes, a part time job, our home life and getting ready for college...there isn't exactly much time to relax. I found myself being pulled thin as I prepared for the start of my future. Saving money, getting good grades, a good ACT score, helping my mom with my 5 siblings at home, It was exhausting!
Now, finally, it has paid off and I'm ready to go to college. If I were to have the opportunity I would take a gap year. Maximizing my gap year is easy to me as it mostly involves relaxing and sleeping. Being able to lay back, watch some TV and just take a break. I can't count how many times I got to take a break while in my schedule. The answer would be close to noon. For me, a gap year wouldn't be about exploring and doing exciting new things and taking adventures, it would be about being able to reconfigure myself in order to be ready. I would go swimming, maybe go to an awesome water park just to celebrate with my friends or sleep in till noon just because I can. I would be able to have picnics and just celebrate my accomplishments and being young and happy. Maybe go see a movie and get ice cream with my best fiends or go tour a museum. I could continue my hobbies of things I like to do such as cooking or art. Take time drawing or painting, something I haven't done in years. Taking time to appreciate the little things that bring me joy instead of focusing on the stress. Being able to simply take my time as I want to would be incredible. I believe that a persons success relies on their mental and physical health. Being able to feel good, can help make me feel less stressed and keep a clear head to complete my assignments.
After that I would be refreshed, then I'm no longer burnt out and can focus all my energy on school when I get back. I would be able to think more clearly and have less things I have to focus on. I could feel ready for anything that comes my way.
