Freedom - by Cedric - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
Freedom –
Freedom is the power to act, speak and think without hindrance. As I begin my journey on a collegiate level, I will gain the knowledge and skills that will allow me the freedom to be a management director, professor or even a prosperous entrepreneur. A bachelor’s degree increases my chances of obtaining a position in a career field of my choice. College opens up opportunities to study abroad, internships and interactions with a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds. College will be beneficial through exposure that will develop me to my full potential. I’m ready for the challenge of analytical thinking, decision making and developing my writing skills. I’m ready for debates that will challenge my perspective and to listen and learn from the perspective of other students. A college experience is priceless in the advantages built by networking relationships that will foster connections with other alumni for years to come.
Education is a ticket to freedom and discovery. College gives me the freedom and foundation to start a business, publish a book or become a CEO. Higher education creates an atmosphere of exposure to professional resources that will aid in the development of analytical skills, negotiation skills, and networking. Through the college experience I will build confidence, independent thinking, and strengthen my self-determination. All of which, when mastered allows for freedom to choose from limitless possibilities upon graduation.
Post-secondary education gives me the freedom to gain additional certifications and licenses that create even more opportunities. My education will pave a path towards achieving my goals, establishing financial freedom and achieving success. Upon graduation, the friends and relationships that were built along the way will serve as a support system. And for the future generations, I too hope to provide financial freedom for others to access post-secondary education.
