Education Equals Opportunity by Camden - January 2018 Scholarship Essay

The word that best decribes my wish to attend college is OPPORTUNITY. I have always strived for perfection and refuse to stand for less. This attitude, paired with my self-motivation, has allowed me to excel in the classroom. Having been on the honor roll for every marking period since elementary school, my education has always been a top priority. My family and I value education and truly believe in the power and opportunities knowledge holds. Though many late nights and sacrifices have come with my academic success, the benefits of a solid education have already begun to open doors for me.

I was recently accepted to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as part of the Early Admissions process. I feel that my high standards and emphasis on education were the key factors leading to my early acceptance. This is the first step in reaching my goal of becoming a known face on television. I will enter Virginia Tech Fall of 2018 as a Multimedia Journalism major. No part of this journey will be easy, but I am willing to venture past the boundaries of my comfort zone and keep my work ethic strong through the obstacles and rejection I am sure to face. Deciding to pursue this major is no small undertaking, but I believe that my self-motivation, my people skills, and, most importantly, my college education will allow many doors to open in my favor, enabling me to accomplish whatever it is I set out to conquer.
