Priorities – Senior Yearbook Quote by Bridget - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
“It all comes down to establishing priorities.”
That senior yearbook quote says it all about me. I believe real accomplishment only comes from hard work. Some may obtain success through little work, but I am not in that category. I see what my dedication and desire to succeed can achieve. I’m goal-driven, I prioritize, and I lead by example with my classmates and teammates.
Being well-rounded and being successful in school, in the pool, and playing the cello are all part of my plan. I could have a sole focus on academics, but my high school experience (and me – as a person) would be completely different. I also would not be able to swim at the level I do.
Swimming is very important in my life. While I spend 15-20 hours a week in the water, swimming also helps drive how I prioritize my other hours.
The sport has shaped my time management skills – how I use my time wisely for studying, practicing the cello, and also having time to be with my friends and enjoy high school. It has shaped how I select my friends and the common values we share. Establishing my priorities has impacted how I take care of myself, how I eat, and how to distinguish those situations to avoid.
It is this hunger to succeed, in diverse areas, which opened up more doors for me. It helped me prioritize with my college selection process. Yes, it is all about establishing priorities! I am confident in my discipline and preparedness for the challenges. The prioritization work continues!
