Management Philosphy by Brandi - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
Management Philosophy
If I were to teach a class in college, I would like to teach a Management Philosophy class. I would like to teach this class because I have never seen it offered in Management or business majors. I believe that this subject is very important. Management Philosophy is a subject that typically is not offered, but should be. Management philosophy was something I learned after obtaining my bachelor’s degree. Everyone who works in the management field has their own management style. Some of these styles work and some do not. This is a very important subject because it can mean the difference of a successful business and a failing one. It can also mean the difference of keeping ones job and losing one. I am not sure why this subject is not taught in most undergrad business or management majors.
One Management style that I believe works with most business and what I believe has made me more successful than others is servant leadership. Someone who was very high in the hierarchy at in my first position after receiving my bachelor’s degree taught me this. Servant Leadership is ensuring that the people who work for you have everything that they need in order to be successful. Do they have all of the tools necessary for them to complete their assigned duties successfully? Are they receiving their paychecks on time? Are they awarded for hard work? The list goes continues. This is just one of many subjects I would teach in a Management Philosophy class if the roles were reversed.
