My Uncanny Wisdom by Bailey - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I go stand in front of a thousand students and tell them one thing, it would be to realize the imprint you are leaving to people even younger than themselves. As a senior in high school now, I really wish I would have treated people better and practiced humility better. I would really tell the younger people to watch what their first impression is because that is the most important impression you can leave someone!
Without a doubt, I would tell a younger person to be careful watch over themselves because that is what people younger than them will remember. "You can do 99 good things for someone but they will remember that one thing that you didn't do," author unknown. To leave an imprint on someone is to do that one thing out of the one hundred.
We as an older generation (in the school system) have failed to pass down the torch to younger people in the way that we party with them and we bully them. That is just another reason that I feel like a thousand eighth grade student need to hear before entering high school. I would tell them to always be thinking about the mark they will leave on everyone and how much they could have an impact if they really did do that one last thing.
