One New Year's resolution that will help me be a better student in 2016 by April - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

I am the mother of three small children ages seven, five and three as well as a director of four childcare centers. My work week is usually more than forty hours a week and I am a full time college student. I am married to a wonderful man that tries to help me with all my obligations and supporting me to be able to go to school, but his job requires him to be out of town for weeks at a time. Needless to say I am an extremely busy student and I am very driven to graduate college with my bachelor’s degree.
My resolutions for 2016 were to both help me achieve my educational goal and make me a better student. I resolved to apply for scholarships to help elevate the financial burden of student loans, since I do not qulify for any government assistance programs. I also committed to time away from my family and workplace to complete my homework and required assignments. I have found that it is extremely difficult to study or complete school work while being the only parent able to provide for the needs of my children. I have also found it extremely difficult to find the time needed to study to make the grades I know I can make with such a demanding work schedule.
The first thing I have done to insure this resolution is followed is adjust my work schedule. Luckily, I have a very understand employer that understands how important the continuation of my education is to me. I have adjusted my schedule to give me an additional four hours of study time a week to make sure I can maintain my academics. I have also enlisted the help of a relative to watch my children one night a week. When I allow myself some time away from being the sole provider for my children once a week I have freed up another three to four hours of study time.
I know it does not seem like much too some people, but additional time per week that is set aside for me to complete my homework and study can make a huge impact on my academic record and therefore make me a better student in 2016. I know that finishing my degree will greatly impact my family in the future and so this resolution while small, requires effort on my part to remain constant will pay off in big ways.
