Punctuality by Angel - February 2023 Scholarship Essay
Deadlines are an annoying but necessary part of life. They help keep projects on a good pace and under budget, while also making sure that workers are not slacking off when they should be working. Punctuality is the ability to meet deadlines. Punctuality is a very important skill because it makes you more attractive to employers and professors, keeps the overall project moving at a good pace, and makes work less stressful when deadlines roll around.
For starters, punctuality is a highly sought-after quality in workers for reasons that will be discussed later. As such, professors will work hard to cultivate it in their students. Punctuality means that you are ready and willing to listen to directions and can work fast. It also shows that you are eager when you show up on time, or early, to work or meetings. For those simple reasons, punctuality is very attractive.
Secondly, the ability to meet deadlines is really important to keep a project moving at a really good pace. Showing up on time allows a worker or student to be up to date on the latest developments on a project and allows them a longer window of time to work. As such a good worker or student will be highly punctual.
Lastly, punctuality is a good way for a worker or student to avoid stress. Simply put, showing up on time means that one's boss or professor does not develop a negative view of a person. Furthermore, being able to meet deadlines days in advance means that a worker or student will not be highly stressed and squeezing weeks of work into a few hours to meet a deadline. As such, punctuality is really important to education and the workplace.
In conclusion, punctuality is arguably the most important soft skill of them all. Punctuality allows a person to look good for employers or professors, work more efficiently on projects, and avoid a great deal of unnecessary stress.
