What would I do during a gap year. by An'Zanay - August 2019 Scholarship Essay

A gap year is described as a time between high school and higher education that people use to figure out what they want to do in the future. Many people use that time to go travelling, volunteering, or working aboard. There are many benefits and downsides to taking a gap year. During a gap year, you are able to improve yourself, learn new skills, try a different job, save up money for college, and take a break from the intensity of school. Even with all the benefits, there are some downsides including having to make and stick by a plan that will not affect any plans like going back to school.

Although the negatives to being in a gap year are very great the positives can really help people clarify their goals for school, work, and the future. The way I would make the most of a gap year is by working in an internship for career paths I think are interesting. Doing an internship during that time can help me develop new life skills and I could find a passion for a career and boost your job prospects. By finding that passion I would be able to go to a higher-level education knowing what I want to do and be able to further that passion into a job. During a gap year, I would make sure I am following my plan and staying on track for the next level of school I plan on taking by prepping for college.
