Thank You Mrs. Long by Alexis - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Through highschool, there are many teachers you come by, but there is always that one teacher that stands by you. Teachers play a role by educating students to empower the future. They give us this knowledge to have a purpose. That knowledge will either stay with you or be educated by it. Teachers share lessons to their students to lead in life, including myself.
During my freshman year, I had signed up for health occupational students of America (HOSA) and a health class offered. The teacher that ran these two functions was Mrs. Long. When first meeting her, I automatically knew that she was going to be my favorite teacher, by her personality. After having Mrs. Long teach health education, I had grew an interest into the health field. So the next school year, I had signed up for more Health classes. I was still even a member in HOSA showing a big part. I had signed up for HOSA competition as well. One day, Mrs. Long, my friends, and I travel to HOSA state competition. On the way there, Mrs. Long and I were talking about her past in college and careers she was in before health education. At the time, I had asked her, "Is this career that I want to be is a good choice?" She had told me, "You pick a career that makes you happy which is what matters." "You may change your mind several times or not but make sure it is something you enjoy," she said.
Later on my junior year, I had became the president of HOSA. Mrs. Long had told me to sign up and lead the club that year. She has been a great role model and educator in life. If there was anything I was needing to discuss about or ask her, she was always understanding to the issue. She is the one teacher that shares her knowledge and compared to the books. Thank you Mrs. Long for being a part of my life.
