Creative Cooking Online by Alexandria - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

Podcasts are always interesting; it’s difficult to find the right term that truly describes what they are. Podcasts can be viewed in a number of different ways: they are entertaining, relatable, informative, heartbreaking, and even inspiring. With so many types of podcasts to choose from, nearly anyone can find a podcast right for them. If I were to host a popular educational podcast, I think the topic of that podcast would be cooking and baking.

There's no denying that you can watch any cooking- or baking-related shows on TV or anywhere online; however, some people tend to multitask and would rather listen to something rather than watch it. There are many types of podcasts that are informational, but a cooking and baking podcast would provide anyone of any age to learn, experience, imagine, and create something on their own from scratch. Young children would be able to learn different shapes, and gain basic skills such as measuring certain ingredients (mathematics), using a measuring cup, improving their ability to follow directions, and even sharpening their sense of time and how long something takes to cook or bake. In addition, older listeners can learn new types of foods and spices, and build up their confidence and even their palette. Even if their attempts aren’t successful, the podcast would be valuable just for the experience itself, because it would encourage people to push past their limits and try new things.
