Family. The source of upbringing for many children across the world. Being brought up by family can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on whether they give you that extra push to succeed or fail. For me, my family has become my inspiration. Through them, education has become a priority and focus my entire life. The one individual who has greatly inspired me to attend college is my mom.
When she was fourteen, my mother had my older brother. As a result, she did not graduate from high school when she should have, but that did not stop her from getting her education which she later received. She instilled a love for learning and education in my brother as he grew up. Sadly, due to her tragic death in 2006, I missed the chance to experience all of that with her. However, my family has worked hard to keep her spirit and ideals present in my life.
Even though I was young, her death impacted me in several ways. It made me strong and proved to me that I can not only survive but thrive because I know that she would want the best from and for me. With this carried in my heart, I know that attending college will further my education in a way to help me prosper and prepare for my career. It became evident that the responsibility of being prepared is something that is ever present, and a prize, once seized, which will remain with me through my academic journey and career.
