Biking Club by Abigail - September 2019 Scholarship Essay

The extracurricular activity that I would bring to my school is a biking club. Not like motorcycles or dirt biking but just simple, biking. A majority of students have learned how to ride a bike at a very young age. It is a great exercise to do and having a group of people while riding with you would be even better. Not only would we be riding around the school area but the club could enter competitions. There are numerous mountain biking competitions held in the fall season.
Kids could join the club for free of charge. The participant would earn a club shirt so when they go riding off campus, they don’t lose each other. The only expenses that would have to be paid for out of pocket is signing up for the biking competitions and the club t-shirt. Club meetings would be once a week giving kids a relief from doing other stressful activities.
This bike club would focus on not only physical health but mental health as well. Participants would make friends, get exercise and clear their mind. Bike riding is a stress free activity. You can think of all the things that upset you but when you are on that bike, you feel as though you are flying and none of those disruptions are that important. When you get off the bike, it is like you can start again. You cleared your head and now are ready to take on the next task.
