My Motivation by Abdullah - April 2024 Scholarship Essay

My motivation to life is automotives, due to my deep passion for automotive. To some, cars are just a piece of metal that gets them from point A to point B, but cars, to me, is a passion. At a young age, I have always been fascinated with cars, like it was a part of me. There’s an undeniable love that I have for cars. Since I’m significantly younger than my sister, she was more of a maternal figure. Making it difficult to relate to her on most subject matters; I would turn to toy cars at that point in my life, and all things automobile became my sibling.

As I grew up, my interest in cars did as well. For instance, in my primary days, I would mostly play with my toy cars, and then, moving into my adolescence, I would spend countless hours on YouTube watching videos about automobiles. In my late teenage years, I started going to different automotive events, meeting new people, and listening to their stories about their cars. When I finally started driving, it unlocked an even deeper passion for automobiles. My car and I are one.

I discovered I love modified/high-performance cars through research and attending automotive events. Modifying your car is when you change different parts and add parts to the vehicle, like making it your own. As I previously stated, cars are a part of me as a being, so how my car looks reflects me. Therefore, I love learning the works of the engines and other mechanical components. During the pandemic, I built an engine from scratch; while building, I examined each part and tried to understand its operations.

While in college, I am excited to join different automotive clubs to build and compete in competitions. One of them is the Society of Automotive Engineers, an organization that will allow me to develop and design a car. My ultimate career goal is to be in charge of the performance division of BMW or Porsche.
