SAT II French Flashcards
A great way to show colleges that you hope to attend that you have retained your knowledge of the French language since you completed the courses it to take the SAT II French Subject exam. You want to approach the test with confidence in your French language skills, so it is important to pack in as much SAT II French review before the big day.
The SAT II French Subject test currently consists of 85 multiple-choice questions that you must answer in one hour or less. That means that while you prepare, you should not only work on answering study questions accurately, but you should also work on building up speed as you answer them. Some questions on the test may provide a sentence missing a word that requires you to choose the word that “fits” best into the sentence from several multiple-choice options. Other questions will test your knowledge of French sentence construction, vocabulary, and grammar. You will also face some passage-based questions that will test your French-to-English interpretation skills.
Unlike the SAT II French with Listening exam, the SAT II French test does not require you to listen to French passages. Instead, it is a multiple-choice exam that tests mainly your French reading and sentence-construction skills.
Varsity Tutors' Learning Tools offers SAT II French study help, free-of-charge. One tool offered is the Learning Tools Flashcards for SAT II, that work great for squeezing in a little test review when you don't have time to take a full practice test. You can choose to study the entire online “deck” of study flashcards at once, or you can choose from one of the subsets of SAT II French flashcards that concentrate on a specific concept you need additional practice in. These smaller subsets of cards allow you to zone in on French verbs, such as the mood or tense of the verb, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and many additional parts of speech.
In addition to the existing flashcards already tailored to the subject, you can also use the free flashcards builder to create your own flashcards to quiz yourself with. To use the flashcards maker, all you have to do is click on the “Create Tests & Flashcards” button and you will then be led step-by-step through the process of creating your own cards. You will be given a new blank flashcards template to enter each question you will like to add to the deck, along with several multiple-choice answers. To make the cards challenging, include answers similar to the correct one for the additional choices!
Since you will have limited time to complete your official SAT II French Subject test, it is a good idea to not only pull up the cards and answer them leisurely during your free time, but to also time yourself while answering them as the big day of the test nears. This additional timed practice can help you feel more confident in not only your ability to answer the questions correctly and quickly on test day. Feeling confident on test day will help you perform your best!
