RMA Flashcards
A very important step to becoming a Registered Medical Assistant is passing your RMA exam. Even if you aced your RMA classes, it is important to study for this exam, take part in RMA review, and practice your test-taking skills to make sure you are fully prepared when test day arrives. That is why Varsity Tutors' Learning Tools offers free RMA study help tools, including not only practice exams, but also handy free flashcards online. The RMA flashcards offer a great way to squeeze in a few minutes of studying when you don't have time to sit down and take a full practice exam or simply want to test your knowledge in a different way.
The Varsity Tutors' Learning Tools free RMA flashcards can be accessed from any computer, tablet, or smartphone, and you can quickly pull the practice cards up when you have a few spare minutes to study. Each Varsity Tutors' Learning Tools RMA flashcard asks a question related to medical assisting in a multiple-choice format, and you just click on the answer to the question that you believe is correct. You will then receive instant confirmation on whether the answer you provided as correct or incorrect. If your answer was not correct, the correct answer will be displayed along with an explanation on why it is the right answer. These explanations cannot only help you remember the correct answer next time, but they can also help you discover thought patterns or ways of reasoning you are using that is leading to the wrong answers.
While the flashcards Learning Tool offers many flashcards for you to study with, you also have the option to choose just a small number you want to master during a session before moving onto more. To take advantage of this option, simply finish the number of RMA study flashcards you have decided to work on during a particular session, and then click on the “back” button until you arrive at the first flashcard of the session. You can re-visit the questions you answered incorrectly the first time and see if you remember the right answer!
Another tool you can take advantage of is the Learning Tools Flashcards builder. This is a unique tool that you can use to create your own RMA flashcards. To use the flashcards maker, simply click on the “create tests & flashcards” icon. You will then be led step-by-step through the process of creating your own flashcards by typing questions and answers into the blank flashcards template. You can then save the virtual “deck” of study flashcards you make with the flashcards creator to pull up during future study sessions.
The RMA exam is administered by the AMT, or American Medical Technologists. The test contains between 200 and 210 questions, and you will have just three hours to complete it. This makes it important to not only make sure you are ready to provide the right answers to the questions, but also that you can provide them in a timely manner. The test is “scale-graded,” which is roughly the same as being “graded on a curve.” That means that the final passing score depends highly on how others taking the same test on the same day performed.
The official RMA exam includes 86 questions on General Medical Assisting Knowledge. This section assesses your knowledge of general anatomy, medical terminology, identifying diseases and disorders, medical law, medical ethics, and patient education. An additional 51 test questions are based on Administrative Medical Assisting, and these questions test your knowledge on medical billing, working with insurance companies, patient scheduling, and other office-related tasks. The final section of the test is based on Clinical Medical Assisting, and this section contains 73 questions that assess your knowledge of laboratory procedures, medical instrument knowledge, pharmacology, ECG, first aid, emergency interventions, and other clinical skills you have learned during your studies.
