Subtract 8 from both sides.

Next, let's look at the inequality x + 12 > 8

Lastly, 8 + 12 > x, which means that x < 20.
This means that x must be less than twenty, but greater than 4 and greater than –4. Since any number greater than 4 is also greater than –4, we can exclude the inequality x > –4.
