PALS Flashcards
Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS, is a two-part, web-based program that trains you in the skill, and knowledge needed to assess, treat, and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in children and infants. You might need to take this test if you will be responding to emergencies involving children, such as paramedic, nurse, and other emergency medicine, and critical or intensive care positions. When you take the PALS test, you must demonstrate a knowledge of cardiovascular pharmacology, have an up-to-date American Heart Association Basic Life Support certificate, a current PALS manual, and have taken the pretest. Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools can be used as a means of preparing for your upcoming PALS test to optimize your chance of success. When you are able to practice thoroughly enough to prepare, you can strengthen your current knowledge through many study methods.
The PALS exam covers the content you learned throughout the prerequisite course. You'll see practice questions based on one- and two-rescuer child and infant CPR and AED, shock cases, respiratory and cardiac cases, respiratory emergency management, resuscitation teams, and many others. These concepts are necessary to ensure that you are prepared to provide safe care to infants and children while in emergency situations.
On the Learning Tools website, you are able to use several free PALS study practice tools, such as flashcards. Flashcards offer you a simplistic way to review each concept you need to know for the exam. You can use flashcards for a quick review before you are tested, or as a means of reinforcing your lessons. They provide a novel online study method that has the classic feel of elementary strategy for an easygoing review session. Some PALS students use the flashcards to focus their studies on the concepts in which they need the extra practice. Additionally, you can use the flashcards maker to build your own custom flashcards. Take advantage of these for specialized practice when you need to work with a concept further.
You can combine different Learning Tools to create a full study plan to prepare for your PALS exam. The PALS practice tests can provide a means of assessing your preparation for specific concepts, or simply to test yourself as you go. Question of the Day is taken from the PALS study resources to offer random general assessment on a daily basis. Learn by Concept covers the same material within the flashcards, though presented in a different way – through an interactive syllabus. By combining different tools together, you are able to pinpoint your weak areas, and focus your studies there.
Preparation is key in any test-taking situation, and Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools provide you with multiple options to prepare for your PALS exam. Take advantage of these learning opportunities to strengthen your skills. The test is required in order to progress into certain careers, and without it, you may be unable to practice legally. Through hard work, ample practice, and regular refreshment to your memory, you can keep your skills in tip top shape.
