Example Questions
Example Question #51 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
Who borrowed the most books?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
The first column shows the different students. The next column shows the number of books the students have borrowed.
So, to find the student who borrowed the most books, we will first find the largest number in the last column. We can see the largest number is 5.
Now, to find who borrowed 5 books, we will stay in that same row and move to the left, towards the names of the students. We can see the name says Emma.
Therefore, the student who borrowed the most books is Emma.
Example Question #151 : Data Analysis And Probability
Use the following table to answer the question.
What room do we go to if we want to go to History class?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
We can see the first column shows the different classes, and the next column shows the room number the classes are in.
So, we want to find the room number for History class. So, we will first locate History in the first column. We can see it is the 3rd class listed.
Now, we will stay in that row and move to the right, towards the room numbers. We can see the number is 4.
Therefore, if we are going to History class, then we are going to room 4.
Example Question #62 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
Which class is in Room 2 ?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
We can see the first column shows the classes, and the second column shows which room those classes are n.
So, to find which class is in Room 2, we will start looking at the second column. We will go down the column until we find Room 2. We can see it is the last room listed.
Now, we will stay in that same row and move to the left (towards the classes) to see which class it matches up with. We see that it is Science.
Therefore, the class that is in Room 2 is Science.
Example Question #152 : Data Analysis And Probability
Use the following table to answer the question:
How many books did Jessica and Becki borrow together?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
We can see the first column shows the different students, and the second column shows the number of books each student borrowed.
So, the question is asking us to find the number of books Jessica and Becki borrowed together.
So, we will find the number of books Jessica borrowed, then find the number of books Becki borrowed, then we will add them together.
To find the number of books Jessica borrowed, we will find Jessica's name in the first column. We can see it is the 3rd name listed. Now, we will stay in the same row and move to the right (towards the number of books) to see which number matches up with her name. We can see it says 2.
To find the number of books Becki borrowed, we will find Becki's name in the first column. We can see it is the last name listed. Now, we will stay in the same row and move to the right (towards the number of books) to see which number matches up with her name. We can see it says 2.
Now, we know Jessica borrowed 2 books, and Becki borrowed 2 books. To find the number of books they borrowed together, we will add them together. So,
Therefore, Jessica and Becki borrowed 4 books together.
Example Question #62 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
What grade did Geoff receive in Math?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
We can see the first column shows the different students, the second column shows their grades in Math, the third column shows their grades in Science, and the last column shows their grades in History.
Now, to find what grade Geoff received in Math, we first need to find his name in the first column. We can see it is the 4th name listed. Now, we will stay in the same row and move to the right (towards the grades). We know the next column shows their Math grades, so we will stop there. We can see it says C.
Therefore, the grade Geoff received in Math was a C.
Example Question #41 : Tables
Use the following table to answer the question:
What grade did Chris get in Art?
To answer the question, let's look at the table:
We can see the first column shows the students, the second column shows their classes, and the last column shows their grades.
So, to answer the question, we will first find Chris' name in the first column.
Now, we will move to the right (towards the classes) until we see where Chris and Art match up.
Then, we will move to the last column (while still in the same row) to see what grade he received.
We can see that Chris received a C in Art class.
Example Question #64 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
Who has black as their favorite color?
To answer the question, let's look at the table:
We can see the first column shows the different students, the next column shows their favorite color, and the last column shows their favorite food.
So, to answer the question, we will look in the Favorite Color column. We will search for the color black. We can see it is the last color listed.
Now, we will stay in that same row and move to the left (towards the names of the students) so we can see which student it matches up with.
We can see it matches up with Tyson.
Therefore, the student whose favorite color is black is Tyson.
Example Question #65 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
How many books did Bob and Jessica borrow together?
We can see the first column shows the different students. The next column shows the number of books they borrowed.
We will find the number of books Bob borrowed and the number of books Jessica borrowed. Then, we will add them together.
We look for Bob's name in the first column. We can see it is 5th name listed. We will move to the right (towards the number of books) to see which number it matches up with. We see that it is 0.
We look for Jessica's name in the first column. We can see it is the 3rd name listed. We will move to the right (towards the number of books) to see which number it matches up with. We see that it is 2.
Now, we will add them together. We get
Therefore, the number of books Bob and Jessica borrowed together is 2.
Example Question #66 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
Fill in the blank.
To answer the question, let's look at the table
We can see the first column shows numbers, and the second column shows those numbers squared (or the number times itself).
So, to fill in the blank, we will take the number to the left of it, and we will square it (or multiply it by itself). So, we get
So, we will fill in the blank with 36.
Example Question #67 : Data Analysis
Use the following table to answer the question:
Which class has the most students?
To answer the question, let's look at the table.
We can see the first column shows the different classes, and the next column shows the number of students in those classes.
So, to find the class with the most students, we will first find the largest number in the last column. We can see that it is 15.
Now, we will move to the left (towards the classes) to see which class it matches up with. We can see that it is Math.
Therefore, the class with the most students is Math.
