Certified Tutor
I'm a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Arts and Entertainment Technologies, a program focused on game design and interactive media. While I'm currently building a career in 3D modeling and digital illustration, I bring a well-rounded creative background shaped by working in small team settings where I wore a variety of hats, from animator to social media promoter to help develop published student indie games.
My tutoring specialties include 2D animation, 3D modeling, digital illustration, concept art, and career readiness for the gaming industry. I have a particular passion for lighting and color theory, and I love helping students discover how these elements bring visual storytelling to life.
In 2D animation, I teach foundational principles along with tools such as Adobe Animate, Blender Greasepencil, Dragonbones, and After Effects. Dragonbones and After Effects, in particular, offer approachable learning curves for beginners.
For digital illustration, I guide students in developing skills in rendering light, depth, perspective, anatomy, and shape language using Photoshop.
In 3D modeling, I cover industry-standard software like Maya, Fusion 360, Substance Painter, and ZBrush, as well as the 3D workflow from modeling to texturing.
I also help students build practical skills beyond art, including editing their own promotional content in Premiere Pro, cleaning up resumes and portfolios, refining cover letters, and preparing for interviews.
In the AAA gaming industry, professionals often expect students to specialize early, which can be challenging for high school and early college students still exploring their interests. My goal is to support students in identifying their strengths, developing focused skills, and producing usable art assets for game engines like Construct 3, Unity, or Unreal Engine, so they can build strong, purposeful portfolios.
I tailor each lesson to a student's learning style, whether they prefer structured instruction or hands-on project-based learning. I also provide additional learning resources for continued growth outside of sessions.
