I chose to pursue a degree in Medical Genetics as I enjoy the study of biological sciences, and I am particularly interested in sharing this passion with students studying the subject. I am currently in my 1st year of undergraduate study, and my favourite modules on the course are molecular genetics and physiology as it allows me to study the intricacies of human biology. These modules have specifically enhanced my understanding of detailed concepts such as DNA replication and the action of hormones involved in negative feedback loops. Furthermore, I have adopted the ability to condense such concepts to ease memorisation, and I believe this skill would be a great asset in a biology tutor.

During my first semester, my friends and I decided to create the MedGen Society as a way of connecting with the students on our course. I occupy the position of the social media representative which involves advertising our society's events on social media platforms so that they appeal to students studying our course. My involvement in this society has familiarised the use of technology in supporting students, which I admire and acknowledge is the role of FindTutors.

Moreover, I have had the opportunity to teach students on completion of an intensive 6 year course specialising in Islamic Studies in November 2023, where I was offered a teaching role. This provided me with excellent insight in teaching students and ensuring they are confident with their studies. I teach 2 classes, one with only 8 students and the other with 14 which has developed my ability to collaborate with large and smaller groups of students. Furthermore, I have learned to spontaneously find new ways of explaining difficult concepts in the form of visual aids such as diagrams, and I have found this method to be successful.
