Certified Tutor

My name is Sarah and I love learning and teaching on anything sociological. I have been a student of Sociology since 17 when I did A-Level Sociology, although my interest started much younger! I am currently writing up my PhD thesis project on Vegan Identities as well as teaching modules in Research Methodologies and Thinking Sociologically.
Over my life course I have studied and taught across a range of modules and disciplines that cover Sociology, Criminology, Politics, Philosophy, and Research Methods in the Social Sciences. I have also had job roles in the education sector focussed on enhance learning and teaching methods and strategies (pedagogy) of teaching teams.
I am extremely passionate about students having the best learning experience and enjoying the process just as much as the outcomes, and my extensive knowledge and skillset in these areas make me an ideal tutor.
I always set Learning Outcomes first and foremost and work backwards from there to plan my sessions, ensuring I ascertain and activate prior knowledge that the student(s) have on the topic and work from that starting place. I am a firm believer in two-way learning, particularly in sociology, and always learn something too from the student(s) during sessions. It is always a pleasure to teach and learn alongside students who are honest and passionate about aspects of social life and I look forward to potentially working and learning with you.
