I was born in England but arrived in New Zealand as a 10 month old baby, so i feel that I originated from New Zealand. It was in New Zealand that i received my Bachelors and Masters degrees, both from the University of Auckland. Subsequently i travelled to the UK and worked for a couple of years as a research technician, first at the University of Newcastle, then the University of Glasgow. It was while working at the University of Glasgow that i also undertook my PhD in Immunology. After completing my PhD i worked as a fellow at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Melbourne. After 5 years there I returned to Scotland on a Wellcome Trust Travelling Fellowship. This was based at the University of Edinburgh. Finally, i returned to Glasgow as a Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellow. I am passionate about biology in general, but most specifically about the immune system and how this system deals with pathogens and cancer. I really enjoy sharing knowledge and interacting with students at all levels.

Graduate Degree: University of Glasgow - Doctor of Philosophy, Immunology
I have a keen interest in most sports, especially if this concerns the All Blacks (the NZ national rugby team). I enjoy walks with my wife and our wee dog Ozzy. I am a rock/metal fan so am often found listening to the likes of Metallica and Iron Maiden (my two favourite bands). I love great beer and wine and i enjoy good food.
