If you learn anything while working with me, it will be your fault.

How many times have you been told, "You are not living up to your potential?" Did you hear that as a criticism, even if it was meant to encourage you?
It would be insulting if someone told you that you were living up to your potential. I know none of us who are still breathing have lived up to our potential.

No matter what your abilities are, no matter how successful or unsuccessful you have been, I know you probably underestimate yourself. There is always more growth, more learning you can achieve.

As your tutor, I will ask more of you than you ask of yourself. I don't just focus on the subject, I also focus on you to help you discover and move past the barriers and limitations that are in your way.

My academic areas of expertise are Language Arts, English, Literature, Composition, AP English Literature, AP Language, also Social Studies (History, Government, Geography, Sociology.) I have also taught Math up to preAlgebra.

I also tutor how to study; how to organize; how to take notes; how to plan, write, and edit essays; and how to persevere when you would rather quit.

I have more than 40 years experience teaching students in grades six through the first year of college. That makes me old, but not out-of-touch (except for current music.) I have taught in South Africa, England, Indonesia, China, Ireland, and the US. I have worked with students who are gifted, average, at-risk, and disabled.

We're all the same, we just think we're different. We all want to learn, succeed, feel we are respected, and competent. Sometimes we learn quickly, sometimes we need more time.

My intention is to stick with you, not only to have you achieve your goals, but also to have you discover how to become your own tutor.

Learning can be hard work, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun.
