Certified Tutor
I'm a music therapy intern and I love to learn. I try to learn about everything I can get my hands on. I think learning is a lost art. If you hunger to learn then I'm there as a tool to make the journey easier/smoother. I really believe that once you set your mind to something then nothing is impossible.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Make them forget they are working.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know what they like and dislike. Take a practice quiz (a few questions) and go over it together. Trying to figure out how they would best learn during that first session is a good way to start.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Make it interesting for them. If they don't like math but they like sports, use sports-related questions. If they have trouble memorizing because it's boring... write a song.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Take a breath and sing a song. Singing is proven to help neurons reconnect.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Give them questions, and ask before they read. So they are looking for key ingredients to the story. "Who is the main character?" or even "What was your favorite part of the story?"
