Certified Tutor

I graduated in 2012 as a political science major and French minor from Haverford College; a prestigious, Quaker, liberal arts school in the Philadelphia suburbs. Prior to having attended Haverford, I graduated from The Lawrenceville School; a boarding high school in Central New Jersey (and one of the top high schools in the country). I have a very strong background in the social sciences, the humanities, English (grammar + lit), and French (language, culture + politics). In addition to the aforementioned subjects, I tutor students in the ISEE (having taken them myself, as a student).

Most recently, I taught English as a Foreign Language to over 200 students in Jinan, Shandong Province, China. The experience was rewarding not only from a professional standpoint, but from an immersive cultural perspective as well. I believe that in order to succeed, students need to see learning as an engaging, rewarding, and fun challenge. Through encouragement and positive feedback, learning and achievement become less of a chore and more something of which a student can be truly proud. I know from personal experience that in the areas in which I struggled as a child, I only became fully motivated to consistently improve (and even began enjoying my least favorite subjects) after having received the confidence that came from positive encouragement (and the occasional tough love) from teachers who were truly committed to seeing me succeed.

In addition to teaching, I have worked in the tech/startup space for the past two years and have a background in marketing and operations. Outside of work, I love to workout, I enjoy the occasional Netflix and Food Network binge (British crime dramas are my favorite), and I, of course, love to read. I also spend a lot of time cooking, walking my three dogs, watching tennis, and supporting Manchester City Football Club.
