I am a UH graduate with a Bachelor in Biology. Since I was in college, I have tutored math and got a sense of satisfaction whenever I helped someone pass their test or understand a challenging concept. After I graduated, I worked as an Algebra and Geometry teacher for high school students. I really enjoy teaching Math and believe that all students have the capability to succeed with practice and consistency.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all students have the capability to succeed with practice and consistency.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I will see how much knowledge they have by going over some basic problems to better understand their level.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
For me personally, repetition and practice help me remember information best. In my tutoring strategy, I like to give my students some time to be able to practice problems independently while I correct them.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Most, if not all of us, struggle with new concepts at first until we master them. I like to encourage my students and help them see their potential to succeed and master the subject they need help with.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
After explaining the concept, I would give the student practice problems. I will help the student answer them at first, and then I will give him/her the opportunity to practice independently while I provide feedback on the student's performance.
