I'm a college student from Michigan currently building my own business. I spend a lot of time on my computer toying with programs, playing video games, and learning about chess. I currently attend Oakland University, and I also take some classes at Macomb Community College. I currently tutor algebra, business, marketing, writing, and cost accounting. I believe all students have the skills in front of them to learn, but sometimes just need help understanding. I am always around to help anyone that believes they could use my help. I am always willing to listen to your needs, and do whatever I can!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe students need different things based on their needs. Not everyone learns the same way, and not everyone sees everything the same.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
At a first session, I like to get to know the student and talk to them. It is important to know what my student is having the most trouble with. Then, I suppose I would listen and then start the learning process!
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Most subjects I teach follow specific patterns. I expect to help them by teaching them the patterns, and showing the best way for them to attack any problem.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
It is important for my student to know that motivation comes from within, and I would help them stay motivated by giving them the knowledge they need to stay confident in their subject.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Always go through the material twice, and then start branching out. Different methods are very important, and sometimes students work better with more varied methods.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Reading comprehension is difficult for some people, but to master it is simple: know what you're looking for.
