Certified Tutor

I recently completed a Masters in Education Policy from the University of Illinois. I was fortunate to be able to accomplish this fully online while living abroad in Milan, Italy for my husband’s job. We have recently moved back to the DFW area and I am eager to get back into the education sector. Before moving, I taught high school Social Studies for four years. My family instilled in me a love for history at a young age, and now I enjoy passing on this passion to my students. I love finding ways to make history come alive and to make it more interesting than just a bunch of names and dates. There are so many intriguing stories and dramas from the past, and many ways to relate past events to our current lives. It is my desire to engage my students with the interesting background stories of historical figures and discuss the decisions they made and the events they influenced. In the state of Texas, I am certified to teach History, Geography, Government and Economics and feel confident that I can help your student succeed in these subjects. I also have an extensive background in writing, and can help your student improve their writing skills, especially for the writing portions of AP tests. I graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in History and Government, as well as earning my teaching certificate. I am eager to once again help students to learn and love Social Studies, especially after all of my travels in Europe and experiences with new cultures over the past two and a half years.
