Certified Tutor

I am a retired state certified Spanish and English teacher from Houston. With my considerable experience as a highly successful and admired educator, I am confident in my ability to tutor all levels of Spanish, English and beginning French. I received two teacher scholarships in my career and I lived and studied in Jalapa, Mexico and Granada,Spain. I offer not only specialized tutoring, but cultural insight as well. My work with diverse populations has honed my ability to recognize the needs of my students.

My clients have ranged from middle and high school to adults wanting to learn Spanish for their own personal use. In addition to teaching, I tutored at school and was a mentor for the new foreign language teachers. My evaluations were always the best possible, and I received an outstanding teaching instructor and role model award in 2008. I have read, evaluated and scored the Advanced Placement Spanish Literature Exams for the College Board for the past five years.

I am a very upbeat teacher, using not only the textbooks and CD's, but songs and rhymes as well to help students learn and master both verbal and written communication. I have found that what I truly love is helping others to succeed in any way that I can. I truly believe anyone can comprehend, speak, read and write Spanish. It is perfectly phonetic and it is spoken exactly the way it is written. It can be learned quite easily as long as it is explained properly.

I travel as often as I can. Besides living in many places in the USA, I have been to Europe and Mexico many times. I have also traveled to Australia, Africa and Canada. I love to go to the gym, swim, take Pilates classes and lift weights. I read a great deal and enjoy all the wonderful activities Houston has to offer.
