Hi, Im Stephanie! I'm currently a junior at the University of Louisville, majoring in Computer Science!
In terms of my education experiences, my last position was with Littera Education, where I had the opportunity to tutor elementary and middle school students in reading and math a few times a week. I know some math curriculums make it more confusing than it needs to be, so I am here to clear up that confusion!
I'm also a huge fan of chess. I started playing in 4th grade and competed in tournaments from local to national levels until 8th grade. Chess is packed with layers of strategy, pattern recognition, and thinking ahead in a visual way. I believe that playing chess was instrumental in shaping my problem-solving and design-thinking skills, which naturally led me to choose Computer Science as my major.
This experience has shaped my belief in the importance of equipping students with problem-solving and critical-thinking skills that they can use beyond the classroom. Education should be about preparing students to navigate and make sense of the world around them.
When it comes to tutoring, my style is all about teaching students how to approach thinking about a problem. I often ask them to explain their thought process as they solve a math problem or read a story, with explanations and clarifications as needed. It's never a lecture-based session.
And when I'm not deep into studying, classes, or tutoring, I love to unwind by playing the piano, creating art, or diving into board games with friends!

Piano - I've taken classes for over 10 years from elementary to high school, and love to pick up new songs every now and then, as well as play for my church! Chess - I used to play competitively from 4-8th grade, but I love playing for fun more and trying different strategies. Art - I took visual arts classes from 7 years through middle and high school where we focused on still life and realistic drawings. However I have shifted to graphic design with a more creative, abstract, and conceptual approach. Board Games - I love playing board games with friends, especially ones with cool mechanics!
