My instruction relies on my best assessment of students' prior knowledge, capabilities, and expectations. Prior to instruction, I seek to fully understand and affirm what students know and what they learned to help them understand the subject. I base my instruction and students' engagement in learning on ethical principles, personal, professional, accreditation standards, and real-world issues, problems, and practices. Learning objectives and outcomes are set to reflect the academic goals, I believe they should be delivered through diverse learning experiences/methods and be assessed through formative measures. I strive for flexibility and timing of assignments to maximize students' potential for learning. My teaching philosophy reflects my personality and value of education. I believe my students, with whom I have the pleasure to interact and educate, come to my classroom with individual and diverse experiences, beliefs, and goals. I strive to create and maintain an active learning environment that encourages exploration, understanding, and application of the material presented. Further, I expect and demonstrate ethical behavior, authenticity, and accountability in all professional and personal interactions. I believe students will come to my class prepared to engage in and be transformed by their learning. I believe educators serve a vital function in our society and I am privileged to educate the current and next generation of professionals.
