Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I received my
Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English as a Second language with minors in Global Studies, French, and Linguistics. During college, I was a volunteer tutor for a Boys and Girls club to help students with English and math, as well as an online English tutor for refugees in Iraq. For the past several years, I was blessed and challenged to have taught English language literacy, environmental science, and biology in a high school setting.
In this role, I interacted with hundreds of English learners from various linguistic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including those who struggled with native-language literacy. While I enjoyed teaching biology and helping prepare students for their standardized tests, I am most passionate about teaching science and English language. I have taken and am familiar with the ACT and Advanced Placement tests as well and would be delighted to help someone develop learning strategies and study habits. While I believe that a good education is a great treasure, my teaching style is also influenced by my belief that a person's value and success is not and cannot be measured by standardized tests. So, while I do my best to teach and prepare students for such things, I also seek to encourage a love of learning with an attitude of grace, perseverance, and patience.
