I received my University education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning B.S. degrees in Astronomy and Astrophysics (with Highest Distinction) and Biology (with Distinction), and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics. My Postdoctoral Fellowship was in Radiation Oncology at the University of California at San Francisco. I then had a 35 career as a Professor and Research Scientist at: Temple University, William Beaumont Hospital and both Wayne State and Oakland University, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). I taught a wide range of classes to Undergraduate, Graduate and Medical Students that included: Anatomy, Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Radiation Biology and Radiation Physics. My research involved developing new treatments for Cancer and Stroke, including image-guided treatments to target treatments to diseased tissues. I also have experience teaching junior high and high school students through programs at their schools, summer programs and having such students work in my laboratory. I have tutored students in Biology, Math, Physics and Astronomy and also taught adult education classes in these subjects. When tutoring, I adjust my style and pace of teaching for each student to help them master the concepts and material to the best of their ability. I am now retired from my University and besides tutoring/teaching, I enjoy Astronomy and Astrophotography, stamp collecting, drawing and painting, and reading.
