Hello! My name is Ameerah Lopez and I have been working as a tutor for over 20 years at organizations
such as Champion Learning, Tutor Doctor, Beyond the Classroom and Bazba Learning Centre. I hold a graduate diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language, TESL, from Niagara College. I also possess a degree in Mathematics from Spelman College, which makes me a very versatile instructor.
I spent my first year practice teaching after obtaining my graduate diploma at the Muslim Centre, where I had an apprenticeship teaching ESL. I have a passion for working with children and adults to help them achieve higher grades in school and a better understanding of the English language.
I believe that learning is a corporate experience. One-on-one tutoring is the ideal platform to instill
knowledge and understanding. I enjoy this mode of learning the most and I look forward to working with students at Varsity Tutors in this manner.
In all this, the support of parents is vital. No student should walk the road to discovery without parental guidance. I believe in full participation by the parent as I try to educate their son or daughter.
I was raised by two educators who were very active in my education. My father was a language professor and my mother taught ESL. Ever since I was young, I participated in the family business tutoring middle and high school students to achieve their best.
I have experience working with vulnerable populations from Tutor Doctor and Champion Learning Center. I try to help vulnerable sector learners by being patient and caring, but I encourage the same level of achievement. I look forward to meeting you to begin a teacher and student relationship!
