Certified Tutor

I am a graduate from both the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 2020, I earned a Master in Social Work with an emphasis on Advanced Generalist Practice. I also received a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a focus on Addictions Treatment (2013) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Studies (2015). In 2021, I passed my social work licensure exam and became a Certified Social Worker (CSW) from the state of Utah. I value learning and the concept of obtaining an education to further advance personal life goals regardless of someone's chosen field. I am passionate about social work and psychology. The former allows me flexibility and diversity to assist individuals with their social problems. The latter informs my work with helping people because I frequently seek to understand people's minds and their behaviors. While I am relatively new to tutoring, I have many experiences in leading psychoeducation groups, and classes, mentoring students in-person, and conducting multiple trainings for various audiences and settings that transfer well into tutoring students online. As a tutor, I use person-centered and strengths-based approaches to working with individuals. Simply put, clients' preferences, needs, and values should guide tutoring sessions; people have a right to self-determination. Successful tutoring planning means considering the client's well-being in a holistic manner.
