Elizabeth
Certified Tutor
Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I have years of experience tutoring LD/neurodivergent students, teaching adult learners, and substitute teaching. I have tips, tricks, and hacks for dyslexics, ADHD students, and those with dyscalculia. I can also tutor history, and social studies.
I was a tutor, reader (recording text books onto tape), and note-taker for the Jones Learning Center at my alma mater, the University of the Ozarks. I worked with a students who were had a variety of diagnosis', including but not limited to, severe dyslexia and ADHD. I have facilitated outdoor learning experiences for youth and adult learners in New Orleans, and have taught basic computer skills to low income adult learners. For the past two years I have been a substitute teacher, focusing primarily on subbing for special education classes, subbing for inclusion teachers, and dyslexia teachers. I enjoy working with middle school, high school, and young adults they always ask the best questions, and have interesting and thoughtful perspectives.
Tutoring sessions with me may involve cheers, chants, jumping around, and dance parties if needed. I'm a firm believer that there is no one way to learn, and my goal is to find out your best way of learning, and adapt my tutoring to you. The first several tutoring sessions with be a combination of assessments,(figuring out where you are academically, what gaps there may be, and how you learn) and what your learning goals are. The final tutoring session for a section will be you teaching me the material we've covered, if you can do that effectively, you've mastered the content (and you'll ace the test/class).
