The base of my 15 years experience has been through teaching at low income schools where my students need reading comprehension intervention and a lot of love. I have taught at two high schools and three middle schools in the subjects of English, Reading, and Language Arts. My favorite subjects include journalism, creative writing and poetry, but I can help with study skills and test taking strategies, as well. Students always loved it when I incorporated some yoga and guided meditations to help them with test anxiety.
I find it fascinating to talk to students and just listen. Teenagers want to be heard and understood. I got every student in my classes at a local high school to create a 6-8 page research paper in MLA style. Students would write for me - when no one else could motivate them to complete assignments.
I have a BA in Communications and middle and secondary English. I live on a big farm on back roads of North Carolina. I'm a NC State fan. Go Wolfpack! And I have two beautiful daughters, three mini donkeys, and four cats. I enjoy sunset yoga, planting flowers and herbs, and just being out in nature.

I like being in nature and traveling. I have been to Europe, Ireland, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and throughout almost all fifty states. In my spare time, I help with a food vendor at festivals and fairs. I can cook up a good elephant ear and corn dogs!
