I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Howard

Certified Tutor

I started my undergraduate work at age 42 (proving it's never too late), receiving a Hons. BA in 2001, and a Master's in 2003, both from Trent University, before moving on to PhD work at York University in Toronto, and a second PhD back at Trent in 2010. I tutor in Political Science, Sociology, Social Science, Philosophy and History. The most important element in teaching, I find, is to bring enthusiasm to the work, and to subjects, connecting with students on an individual level, as a means to draw out their own interests in the course work. I attempt to design tutorials that balance content with teaching students the tools and critical skills they require to succeed in university level courses, and to move from a memorization or rote learning to a more complex multi-structural and relational understanding of course material and texts.
