Raising student success to achieve grade-level through mastery and higher, has been my goal throughout my 30+ years in education. My various experiences in PK through Adult teaching and tutoring, coaching teachers in classrooms and through the certification process have led me to attaining this goal for my students and myself:
- With certifications in Elementary and Special Education, and Educational Administration I have had the privilege of working in many disciplines, though my specialties have been in the area of Language Arts and behavior management.
- When I retired from the State Department of Education with the job title of Distinguished Educator, I began tutoring and co-managed a tutoring center. As a co-manager and tutor there I facilitated individual growth in students' learning to read as well as reading to learn and raise test scores on standardized tests at all levels. I witnessed students' belief that they could learn and that learning was, at least sometimes, an enjoyable activity.
- My focus is always on showing students what they already know and how it leads to what they need to know.
